Transforming outdoor spaces into places to gather, grow, and unwind.

Our story

At 81 Poppies, creativity has always been at the heart of everything we do.

Founded by Michelle Weisman, 81 Poppies was born from a lifelong passion for design, beauty, and creating meaningful experiences that bring people together. With more than 20 years of creative experience spanning fashion, retail, visual merchandising, and outdoor living, Michelle has spent her career transforming spaces into places that feel inspiring, welcoming, and personal.

Michelle began her career in New York City’s garment district, designing for notable fashion brands before returning to Texas to launch the first iteration of 81 Poppies, a contemporary women’s clothing brand. Carried in boutiques across the country and internationally, her entrepreneurial journey eventually led her into the world of visual design. Becoming the Director of Visual Design for Chair King Backyard Store and Fortunoff Backyard Store, overseeing the creative direction of in-store experiences, seasonal styling, merchandising, and brand storytelling.

But 81 Poppies was always in Michelle’s heart and her desire to slow down and reconnect with nature, creativity, and community led her to re-imagine 81 Poppies.

What started as a love for gardening and gathering friends outdoors quickly blossomed into a vision for helping others create outdoor spaces that feel beautiful, intentional, and alive. Whether through garden workshops, floral planting experiences, or thoughtfully designed outdoor environments, 81 Poppies is about than just plants- it’s about creating moments people remember.

We believe gardens should not only be seen, but experienced. A place to gather around a table, sip wine with friends, watch flowers bloom, and find joy in the everyday rhythms of life.

And we’re here to help you create that feeling in your own space.

Testimonials

“I had such a great time at the Seeds & Sip event! I am a novice gardener and I’m always trying to learn ways to improve my plant and veggie growing skills. I learned wonderful and helpful tips like how adding certain flowers to my veggie garden could be super beneficial! And we got to snack on some delicious hors d’oeuvre’s made straight from Michelle’s garden.” - Lindsey

“Michelle’s Seeds & Sip workshop was a delightfully entertaining and educational event. Those who attended were treated to a tour of her fabulous gardens that are a masterpiece of design and color. Her vegetables, as well as gorgeous flowering plants are overflowing in her lush gardens. Michelle explained the concept of “crowd planting” - a method by which vegetables are planted much closer then you would expect. Michelle had also grown zinnias, sunflowers, and cosmos from seed and we were able to plant some in a pot with beautiful plant labels to take home. After our planting adventures, we were treated to a delicious feast of appetizers and yummy bites that Michelle had made. It was a charming way to spend the afternoon with Michelle and other wonderful women.”- Marla
